Un miércoles por la tarde, casi al filo del cierre del día, un número desconocido llamando, contesto, y me cuentan brevemente que quedé seleccionada entre los participantes del concurso de Ilustración de Stgo en 100 palabras junto a otros 12 colegas, para ilustrar uno de los 12 cuentos ganadores del certamen.
Mi emoción fue inmediata y el proceso de creación y producción posterior fue así también. El viernes partimos con el brief, miércoles sgte los 1os sketches e ideas, viernes la ilustración y fin.
El cuento ganador que me asignaron fue “Papel Mantequilla”
Surprise!! I was selected!!
-It was that surprising for me too :) -
On Wednesday afternoon almost at the end of the day, an unknown number called, I answer, and a man briefly tell me that I was selected among the contestants of “Santiago en 100 palabras” Illustration calling, along with 12 other colleagues to illustrate one of the 12 winning stories of the contest.
My emotion was immediate and the subsequent creation and production process was like that too. On Friday we start with the brief, Wednesday next the 1st sketches and ideas, Friday the illustration, and, the end.
The winning story assigned to me was "Papel Mantequilla"
Luego de varias lecturas surgió la sensación de nostalgia, recuerdo, texturas, sonidos de patio de colegio; elementos de una vida más análoga.
Pensé en una paleta que fuera similar al entorno escolar chileno (azul, blanco), al niño protagonista y algunos elementos de la historia.
Quise integrar también algunas texturas y medios tonos, buscando la sensación de algo tocable como un papel, a propósito de que el título es “Papel Mantequilla”.
Con el niño protagonista quise jugar con las transparencias, como una forma de representar su honestidad y genuinidad.
After several readings, the sensation of nostalgia arose, memories, textures, sounds of schoolyard; a more analogous life perhaps.
I thought in a palette that was similar to the Chilean school environment (blue, white), the main boy, and some other elements of the story.
I also wanted to integrate some textures and halftones, looking for the feeling of something touchable like paper, since the title is “Papel Mantequilla”.
With the main child, I wanted to play with transparency, as a way of representing his honesty and genuineness.
*Se nos pidió que los elementos principales de la ilustración estuvieran a la derecha porque en el costado izquierdo iría el texto.
We were asked that the main elements of the illustration be on the right side, because the text would go on the left side.
Luego de que fue la premiación y el cierre del concurso, comenzó a aparecer en las calles y otros medios la evidencia del trabajo realizado.
After the award ceremony and the closing of the contest, evidence of the work carried out began to appear in the streets ...
Agradecida y contentísima por haber sido parte de esta versión del concurso y haber podido colaborar a levantar relatos sensibles y cercanos.
I’m grateful and very happy for ve’been part of this version of the contest, and for could been able to collaborate crating in turn to sensitive and close stories.
